I would like to know of pleasant walks along the Arno banks on the outskirts of the city ..please can you help ?
The park area to the west of the city would provide you with walks along the river. Other pavements running through the city are very narrow and difficult to walk along especially with roads right next to you. (Response from Donk1)

People ask me what I love doing the most in Firenze. Most people ask if it's the museums, the food, the art. And I say yes to all of them! I love them all. But my favorite thing to do in Firenze is to walk...

Very nice! (4.0 / 5)
The Arno is the major river that flows through Florence and in it's own way, it is very beautiful. Going for a walk along the river is highly recommended, especially with views of the Ponte Vecchio at night. Very nice.

Wide and peaceful river, but where are the boats? (4.0 / 5)
The Arno River is mostly known as the river that flows through Florence under the Ponte Vecchio, but we saw the beautiful Arno River at Pisa. The river is 240 kilometers (150 miles). Its source is at Mount Falterona in the area called Casention and...

picturesque river and an open space to view its surroundings (4.0 / 5)
Our hotel overlooked the Arno, which mirrored the atmosphere of the sky and weather. It is naturally rather grubby looking but add the reflective colours from above and the banks and it gives life to the wide flat river. Crossing Ponte Vecchio or walking to...

The river ... The bridges.. The diverse neighborhoods (4.0 / 5)
The Arno has not always been friendly to Firenze. The city has flooded numerous times due to the Arno. On the other hand because of the river you have the bridges, the diversity of areas of the city and more.

Nice (4.0 / 5)
This is nice to see but the water looks gloomy. It is worth a visit and the air is fresh. Don't keep on walking, just stop and take in the views.

Great walk when it's not so busy (5.0 / 5)
I enjoyed walking by the Arno in the morning when the shops weren't open yet and it wasn't packed with tourists. If you get a chance, take a boat ride along the river and see Florence from a different perspective. This was also a great...

A nice area for a walk... (4.0 / 5)
Walking along the Arno River was a nice and relaxing experience. Depending on how far you walk and what side of the bridge you are on, you will find yourself out of the touristy area and more in a residential setting. While this is nice,...

Great to walk by (5.0 / 5)
Arno has lots of faces. It may get peaceful, fun, lonely, romantic. It is a river along which you can experience different, intense feelings. Try spending time beside it, at the cafes by it, just walking by it, anyway you like.

Looks nice, but shame it cannot take boats (3.0 / 5)
It is a nice river running through Florence. Just a real shame that it has insufficient depth to take boats and the trips that would result. Worth taking a little time walking the river banks though, very relaxing.

Arno River (5.0 / 5)
In our hop on/hop off bus, we passed along the road beside the River Arno with it's rapid waters make it non navigational river with a bit of waterfall. It is always refreshing to have a lake or river within the city limits.
